Thanks Scorp. As it turns out, I had a long conversation with the service manager. At first he tried make it sound like it was real difficult to get the cam/rocker arm cover off wihtout dropping the engine. Then I explained to him I had done it three or four times. It is all in the way you angle the cover and slide it out of the left side of the bike. He seemed back off a bit after that. He did make a point that to heli coil the stripped bolts he would have to take off the cylinder head. In the end, the cost is 369.00 and the bike is ready to be picked up tomorrow. You really have to watch these guys. He did say that the infamous seal leak is so common on the Savage that it WILL leak again down the road. In my case, I had the seal fixed under warranty the first year I had the bike around 5K miles. It didn't leak again until around 76k. That's a pretty good run. With 80K on this bike with no rebuild, I'm hoping to get one more season from her. All in all, the Savage has been a reliable bike. All I really did was fanatically change the oil and filter every 2.5k with synthetic (not advertising). I changed the plug maybe 4 times, the belt once (the 1st one wasn't even broke yet). I modified the air filter by ripping out the paper filter and replacing it with foam so I could clean it and put it back in. If I remember correctly, a new air filter goes for 32$ a pop. Other than tires, that was about it. I'm still on the original battery though it's not holding the charge it used to. Ride safe Scorpion
